Welcome to this week’s edition of PromptAway Weekly, where we dive into three unique generative art styles that bring characters to life. Particularly, I’m prompting the same two characters into different worlds—line art, 3D, and retro pixel art.

✏️ Style 1: Manga Pencil Sketch

Description:
This piece captures the simplicity and elegance of manga pencil line art. The character—a young woman walking across Shibuya’s bustling streets.

Prompt:
Full body front view pencil line art drawing of a woman walking across a zebra crossing, background is street and shops of Shibuya, woman with wavy hair and wearing a ribbed sweater, wearing jeans and heels, full body pencil sketch, in the style of manga drawing.”

Actionable Tip:
For manga-style sketches, emphasize "pencil line art" and add "in the style of manga drawing" to capture the raw illustration feel.

✨ Style 2: Magazine-Ready 3D Design

Description:
This piece was created as a layout for a page in a fashion magazine cover. Using the 3D style to add depth to the image, it’s a great layout to showcase products like watches and jewellery.

Prompt:

Actionable Tip:
If you have a particular composition in mind, start by prompting a generic layout without putting much details into the character and objects. Once you have the composition, you can always use Vary (Strong) to add in the character reference.

🎮 Style 3: Pixel Art Retro Aesthetic

Description:
The third piece reimagines the characters meeting at Shibuya Crossing in pixel art style.

Prompt:

Actionable Tip:
Always start by depicting the main scene, and include a camera angle to try to get your desired composition. Here, I’m using a “drone view” to get a slightly top-down look, and only after describing the main characters do I then proceed to add in details of the main characters.

Through these examples, I’d like to showcase the endless possibilities of Gen AI in creating characters in different worlds. Whether you want to create manga art, 3D renders, or nostalgic pixel art, these are all just a prompt away.
